We hosted an exciting Workshop Day at DQ, bringing together dancers from DQ Dance Academy and other local dance schools for a day packed with learning, creativity and lots of fun!
We wanted to create a day where dancers could step outside of their usual classes, experience different styles and develop skills that they may not always get the opportunity to explore during their regular training. With 4 completely different workshops throughout the day, there was plenty for the dancers to get involved with.
Singing with Ellie Gillings
Our first workshop was Singing with Ellie, giving dancers the chance to explore their voices and develop their confidence as performers. The session focused on singing and performance skills, encouraging everyone to step outside their comfort zone and have fun while learning something new.
Lyrical with Liberty Quinn
Next up was Lyrical with Liberty, where dancers explored movement, musicality and emotion through lyrical choreography. The workshop encouraged dancers to connect with the music and use their performance skills to tell a story through movement.
Dancer Wellness with Amelia Hazlewood
We also focused on something incredibly important for every dancer — looking after yourself both inside and outside of the studio.
Dancer Wellness with Miss Amelia explored the importance of wellbeing, nutrition and taking care of your body as a dancer. The workshop included information provided by Miller Oram, who studies Sport and Nutrition at university, helping dancers understand more about supporting their bodies and getting the most from their training.
Cruise Ship Style with Amelia Keenan
Our final workshop was Cruise Ship Style with Amelia Keenan, giving dancers the opportunity to experience a completely different style of performance. The session introduced dancers to the energy, style and performance demands associated with cruise ship entertainment, providing a fun insight into another career pathway within the performing arts.
A Day to Remember
It was fantastic to see dancers from different schools come together, learn from one another and create such a positive atmosphere throughout the day. We loved watching everyone try something new, challenge themselves and enjoy each workshop.
A huge thank you to the workshop leaders for sharing their knowledge and experience, and to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success!
We are so proud of everyone who took part and we can’t wait to continue creating exciting opportunities for our dancers to learn, grow and enjoy their passion for dance.
